The Issues
Promoting the Commonwealth of Virginia
Tareq has decades of experience promoting the Commonwealth and the “Virginia is for Lovers” campaign. He Has also been distinguished by three former Governors as a champion and spokesperson for Virginia. Former Governor and newly elected US Senator, Tim Kaine described Tareq on NBC as a "great promoter" for the Commonwealth.
Promoting Business and Jobs
Tareq is opposed to over-regulation because it stands in the way of economic growth and kills jobs. He plans to maintain and implement new business-friendly measures to support and encourage the creation of new small businesses and will invite more employers to come to Virginia. His policies will protect and create more jobs for Virginians.
Promoting our Troops and Defense Personnel
Tareq attended RMA military academy and has always had great respect and admiration for those who defend our freedom. He has also been a generous and genuine supporter of our veterans and active-duty military personnel. He also knows how important the military and defense industry are to our economy in Virgnia. He is adamantly opposed to sequestration or any cuts to the budget that would lead to the elimination of jobs in Virginia.
Promoting Agriculture
Owner of a family-run farm for 35 years, Tareq is clearly pro-agriculture and agritourism. He understands the need to keep our agricultural businesses alive and well in Virginia. He will defend the rights of all small business owners, including farms, to prevent further losses.
Promoting Lower Taxes and Less Over-regulation
Tareq is opposed to proposed tax increases and understands that higher taxes would hurt businesses, jobs and families in Virginia. He also understands first hand the detrimental effect of over-regulation on any level and will work to minimize burdensome and unnecessary governmental interference.
Promoting Clean Energy Production
Tareq knows how many jobs and tax revenues are dependent on and generated by our energy industries. He understands how many jobs in Virginia have been lost due to over-regulation of these industries. He would like to see Virginia use its natural resources, including environmentally-friendly production of fossil fuels rather than importing them from less eco-friendly or even hostile regions across the globe.
